Soluble vs. Insoluble Fiber: Why Fiber Type Matters
Not all fiber is the same. Here's how each type supports digestion and metabolic health.

Most adults fall short of recommended daily fiber. Understanding the two main types makes it easier to close the gap.
Soluble fiber
Dissolves in water to form a gel, slowing digestion and supporting steady energy and healthy cholesterol levels. Found in oats, legumes and psyllium.
Insoluble fiber
Adds bulk and supports regularity. Found in whole grains, nuts and vegetable skins. A balance of both is ideal.
